This is a hot topic all over the world, even here in South Africa. I am a white male 45 yrs old. I sometimes read local pro and ani circ statements and can truly say that the majority of men here are against the practice of infant circumcision. Here it is not a wide practice and has not been for many years. So most men here are intact. I only saw a circumcised penis when I did military service in the old SADF. At first I did not know what to think of it, when I found out what it was I was DEVASTATED to say the least. I mean how can you just cut off a peace of a baby's penis. Most men here feel the same way. So the circumcised guys are way in the minority. Our stats for white circumcised males are 5-8% max according to the last report I read. So my personal answer is NO for infant circumcision, HIS BODY HIS CHOICE. If he wants to have it done later as an adult thats ok by my standards. I have nothing against men whom have them selfs circumcised. I can vouch for the pleasure I get from my foreskin, my wife also enjoys it. So personalty I see no reason even for adult circumcision. Except for medical purposes.
I was circumcised and they messed up so now there is like a slit from the hole down to the end of the head
no way! Foreskin has loads of nerves in it so it gives way more pleasure when you still have it. Also, many americans think it is trendy so they get it done to their kids, because they think it is more healthy. well, in reality, if you know how to wash under your foreskin, like you should have been taught, there is no need for it to be done, Some say it is just "excess skin and should be chopped of because it smells" which is a loads of rubbish because you don't chop of your toes to stop smelly feet, you just WASH them.
I would vote NO if I could. Circumcision is Male Genital Mutilation. There is no need for it. If you're having a son, SAY NO TO CIRCUMCISION.
it's beyond me why any society still routinely performs this barbaric procedure. it is mutilation, plain and simple. fact: 75% or more of sensing nerves are removed from the penis during circumcision. fact: sensitivity is cut significantly as a result...never to return. i am angry that i was cut, but there's nothing I can do about it now. I agree with other posters that it should be left for young men to decide, not parents who are often swayed by doctors who want an easy payday for the procedure!
You guys are acting like cleaning the foreskin is a huge pain in the ass and takes a lot of effort and time. I don't even think about it, if you shower normally it isn't a problem. And there's little to no risk of infection even if it isn't cleaned all the time (I don't know why anyone wouldn't, though). I just think we should A)leave it up to teenage men, and/or B)Leave the body the way it was meant to be.
YES! I'm circumcised and i love it! Being "uncut" just looks disgusting; it looks like you could poke and eye out.
I think this poll indicates that there is over a 50% chance that your son will not want to be circumcised when he is grown up. Anyways, if you have your son circumcised, there is at least a good chance that he'll resent that when he grows up. I severely resent it that I was circumcised when I was a baby, and many males who were circumcised as a baby severely resent that. On Opposingviews there is even a guy who successfully sued his parents and his doctor for circumcising him when he was a baby, even though his circumcision wasn't botched or anything. Males should have the right to decide for themselves if they are going to be circumcised or not, that decision shouldn't be up to parents or anyone else.
Once they are 15 (the son) let em decide
Everyone has many different opinions on this and they are all valid. Of course it's up to the parents so I shouldn't be any influence on that decision, but my choice would be no. Even if the baby is circumcised, when the child is older he/she can make the decision to consider foreskin restoration or not. I've always been taught that the answer is no before yes. For example, if you want to use something of somebody elses property, the answer is no until you can get permission. This can also mean to leave things the way they are unless you get permission to change them- and babies generally can't make that decision. They can make the decision to be circumcised when they're older if they want to- but at least you would've left things the way they are.
Of course, this is just an opinion.
Unless it is medically or religiously necessary for you to do so, I am firmly against circumcision of infants, for the following reasons:
1. In developed countries, the wide availability of soap and clean water makes hygiene a non-issue. The presence of a foreskin has less to do with getting infection than proper washing does.
2. Circumcision is a surgery: a relatively minor one which has been practiced to near-perfection, but still a surgery, with risks like any surgery. Why take such risks for no appreciable benefit?
3. It is my understanding (perhaps I am misinformed) that infant circumcisions are performed without anesthetic. Why would you subject a baby to such pain and trauma unless doing so was strictly necessary?
4. Circumcision can be performed at any time, but once done, it can't be undone (foreskin restoration practices are far from perfect.) If it later becomes necessary or desirable to perform the procedure, it can be done then.
5. Again, the issue of choice. If it is merely an aesthetic issue, why not leave it up to him? He'll have to live with it longer and more intimately than his parents will.
I'm very glad my father didn't have me circumcised, and it's my hope that some day the practice of routine circumcision will fall away.
No, dont. Leave it up to the kid to decide when he's older.
I'm uncut, but when I draw the skin back, I can leave it there, and look/feel/masturbate like a cut one. All the advantages of both. I have considered it, but I'm glad I never had it done.
An Indonesian whose country has 88% of total males circumcised supported for the answer "no" on this poll.
I had seen so many of this practices in my country and circumcision is really barbaric practice.
Do not do circumcision on male infants, boys, and men.
as i said, all of you idiots are voting no, bcuz ur a bunch of poons!!!!!
i say, let the GD parents decide!!!! y should a freakin poll even exist 4 this kinda thing!!!!!!!!! honestly, you r all just digging yourselves depper down into your perverted little holes!!!!
(BTW if you dont know what POON is, look oit up, you probably will never get any!!!!)
No. Circumcising newborns is barbaric and sodding ignorant if it is not done for medical reasons.
I am uncircumcised and I practically thank my parents every time I slide my foreskin back for the sensitivity given by all the nerves I still have. One of my oldest friends is circumcised, and...well, it is clear when we jerk off together that I am more sensitive. The argument that circumcision is cleaner and such is bollocks--cleaning under the foreskin is a simple matter of washing with warm water, and any child can be taught to do this just as they are taught to wash every other part of themselves.
Galatians 5:1-6 "If you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you"
According to the Old Testament males are supposed to be circumcised as a religious sacrafice. But according to the New Testament, because Jesus died on the cross for us, males are no longer supposed to make the sacrafice of circumcision, and if a male is circumcised Jesus will be of no use to him and only the Old Testament will apply to him, not the New Testament.
For all of those who think that they are messed up because they are circumcised,GET OVER IT!being cut is a heck of a lot better,I have a friend who is intact and he got a kidney infection from not cleaning his foreskin properly,Plus intact penises look very ugly.I myself am circumcised and its not bad like a lot of people think,a lot of stuff about the foreskin containing nerves that give you extra pleasure,is false, yes it has nerves in it,but not any that give you extra pleasure. If you look at a lot of things that people have said, who were circucised later in life, most of them think its better.I do not have anything against intact penises, but they look very ugly,If I was intact,I would be afraid of being rejected from sex with from someone, also most girls are used to circumcised penises,if you have an intact one they may think you have a messed up dick.
Do NOT do it!!!
I was mutilated at 1 day old, and I've always had all kinds of problems because of it. By age 20 I was having sexual dysfunctions.
Foreskin contains about 50% of the nerves in a penis, adds girth, gliding action, reduces need for adding lubrication...
It's a human rights issue too. If you aren't even protecting a helpless childs genitals, then what's the point of trying to have any human rights?
Leave him intact!!! IF he grows up and WANTS to get cut, that should be his choice to make. If it's hacked off now, he's got no say in the matter, and whose to say he'll be happy that you wanted to do that even if it's a "medically perfect" mutilation.
Do some research. All the studies that have been done touting benefits of circumcision are flawed and have been disproven. It's been claimed to do everything from stopping masterbation to preventing AIDS; which clearly are true because cut men never visit JackinWorld, and the USA has the lowest AIDS rate of all developed nations...
Say no to ALL Genital Mutilations not just female.
No. With the exception of the US, and Jewish and Muslim communities, the rest of the world does not practice male circumcision. Their male population is not plagued by more cases of the illnesses that male circumcision supposedly prevents.
I voted no. The baby can get it done if it wants to when its older and has an opinion.
Why mutilate the body of a newborn when it is perfectly fine as it is? Why do that to an unconsenting being?
Regardless of what the penis looks like if it isn't circumcised, how would you feel if someone you don't even know just crushed another piece of your body and cut it off? I wouldn't be very happy with that. Plus, by circumcising your baby, you are killing more than 10000 sexual nerve endings.
Men that have had intact penises and have been circumcised have rated being intact a 10/10. After being circumcised and later describing their pleasure during sex, they rate having a cut penis a 3.5/10.
Don't cut your son's penis!
Yes, see Genesis 17!!!!!!!!!
Here are some verses from Genesis 17:
Gen 17:10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
Gen 17:11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
Gen 17:12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
Gen 17:13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Again, biblical circumcision applies only to Jews. The call to circumcision is done away with in the New Testament.
Why wouldn't anybody want to get circumcised, uncircumcised dicks look disgusting, like an unpeeled banana...
I would have the child have whatever the dad has because you wouldn't want to have the dad and the son to have different types. Any males in the family should be all circumsized or uncircumsized!
no no no...leave the body as it is supposed to be!
dude i was cut as a baby and i hate now as an adult... DONT DO IT
Don't do it, because circumcision does a lot of sexual damage. Circumcised males are missing about 15 square inches of penile skin and around 20,000 erogenous nerve endings.
The Sorrell's study is the only study that has ever been done that measured and compared the sensitivity of circumcised and uncirumcised males. That study was done a few years ago by a group of doctors in California. That study showed that circumcision cuts off the 5 most sensitive parts of the penis.
Cutting of a foreskin to make things,"cleaner" is as stupid as cutting of a kids ears so he won't have to wash behind them.
Stop the ignorant stupidity.Stop cutting kids.
This is such a cruel and brutal thing to do to child. Why is it illegal to have a female circumcised and not a male is beyond me.
Also how do you explain to your child if the tip or whole head, or even entire penis is amputated by a botched operation or complications of infection that he will never be able to know what sex feels like cause you had him get an elective surgery with no major health benefits.
no i personally dont think you should but there are benefits there is a less possibilty of transferering std's and girls do think its better orgasm's when a man is circimcised but you are not going to bang every day so jackin off is the next best thing and there are some GREAT things you can do with the forskin you have you check it out in forskin fun right here
but if once again if you ask me no but there are some benifiets for the circumsised
yes i think you should circumcise. cleaner, and looks better
uncircumcised is just gross just do it
No. I do not like the idea of inflicting a permanent body modification on a non-consenting individual.
When the owner of the foreskin is able to make an informed decision he should be allowed to make the decision if he wishes to have a foreskin or not as it is his body and it is his right alone to choose.
This decision should be the boys to make when he is of legal age. He has the right to bodily integrity, just as girls do. When he is older, he can evaluate for himself the advantages and disadvantages, and decide how much confidence he has in the value of his foreskin.
We shouldn't impose unnecessary surgery on helpless infants. They can always choose plastic surgery of any kind they want later on, but circumcision is essentially irreversible and so should not be done before the person can decide for themselves.
well, i dont mind if they are or not.... i find nothing wrong with it either way both have benefits. By the way to all that say let then choose thats silly not many would choose to because they would remember the pain, getting it as a child is not bad you cant even remember it.
No. Just don't do it.
I myself am 18 and circumcised. I really hated learning of the fact because all my life I had assumed that I had genitals which were never altered in any way, and all choices would be up to me, so that came as a REALLY nasty surprise and I felt outraged and later persistently depressed. They don't even allow a faint pinprick of the genitals to girls nowadays in developed nations, so why is this okay for boys? This is MUCH more drastic than that. That's a double standard. I've discussed my feelings with some of my family. Ironically, my grandmother is more appreciative of my feelings than my grandfather... He cannot understand why I feel this way, thinks it's still a good thing to do, and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing. I suppose it is because he is cut too along with his age and failure to catch up to the times but that's disgusting to me. How could you ever think depriving a boy of developing naturally is a good idea unless there is a definite problem to be treated? (I have no problem with it then) I have no way to know how my penis truly would have been now and it doesn't really feel like I ever owned it. I wouldn't say that it is "my" penis so much as it is their contrived notion of how it should be. Because of this I'm probably going to try to go through the trouble of restoring my foreskin.
Whether by now I sound like a nut or not; (and sorry for the ranting) I think circumcision can "cut" in more ways than one for some individuals... Do you really want to risk that? At least somebody who is left uncut has more options available to him and can later become cut if he wishes. It's not like I can turn back the clock... Only improve what scattered pieces of my anatomy I'm left with and that will take years.
Why should they do it? 1° Foreskin is something you born with, so it's a part from your body so why remove it. 2°It provide a lot of satisfaction when masturbation. Earlier i wished i was circircumcised but later iwas very happy i was'nt
It's his body and his penis, let him make the choice when he is old enough. People that like the idea of touching or cutting baby/little boy's penises are scary and need to arrested.
You said that you love your sons?If you don't love your sons, then circumcise them.If you love your sons, then keep away your sons from circumcision.
There is no benefits on circumcision, and circumcision for health benefits is an irrational explanation.
How could a mutilation give benefits to individuals?
The bad effects of circumcision become more noticeable as a man reaches his forties. Before that he will think his penis works as well as a normal one. The foreskin has three main functions: (1) it protects the glans from friction keeping it smooth, moist and sensitive, (2) it provides a rolling action during intercourse which reduces friction and eliminates the need for artificial lubricants (3) provides most of the sensory feedback to the man's brain through 20,000 plus special nerve endings that detect touch and fine movement which causes pleasure. Sexual intercourse without a foreskin is therefore sub-optimal. The amount of skin removed from the baby amounts to about half the skin of the man's penis. Forced non-therapeutic circumcision of minor males contravenes the human right to intact genitals and optimal sexual experience. His body - his decision.
This poll is ridiculous. You're asking us whether someone should inflict injury on a child?
Circumcision was advocated in the United States by Kellogg (the cereal guy) as a way to stop masturbation. It did not work like he thought, but it sure does make it a whole lot less fun than being intact.
I think yes they should. I'm circucised and very glad of it. I enjoy masturbation just as much as anyone uncircumcised and i don't have to deal with cleaning the foreskin, because i don't have it. I am thankful because i have more tequinques. As an FYI i don't need to/use lube, so it's just as convienient so that arguments gone.
First, why are we asking this.... secondly, it increases masturbational pleasures tenfold with all the new techniques you have with it and you still get to use the one from those who dont, its like getting a game but stopping halfway through and throwing it out.
Ok. I just want to say that the reason alot of people circumcise is because in the Holy Bible it says that a newborn child should be circumcised by the time he is eight days old.
Just a heads up, only the Old Testament advocates circumcision, so that applies only to Jews. The New Testament says that circumcision is worthless for Christians. See Galatians 5:2 among other references: http://bible.cc/galatians/5-2.htm
Nah, you are born with it, you might as well keep it. There really is no point to getting rid of it. I figure if you don't want it, then you can get cut later in life. But to each his own, I say nay.
