But if I make it last an hour or so, as I often do, when I ejaculate it's almost like water. Why is this? Am I melting it by taking too long or something?
Semen is composed of different fluids made in different parts of the reproductive system (see Science Corner article on Semen Production & Ejaculation), and these different components often have different qualities. What's probably happening is that in your longer sessions more of one particular component is being produced. It's common for a longer session to produce a larger volume of semen – yours just changes consistency a little, that's all.
