That depends on the conditions. If the conditions are right, such as if the semen is deposited in a woman's vagina, the sperm cells can survive for several hours – basically until their store of "onboard" energy runs out. If it's a place that's at room temperature, the sperm cells slow down and die much quicker, probably within an hour. And if it's a hostile environment, such as a chlorinated hot tub, the cells die very quickly – almost instantly. But that doesn't mean you can ejaculate freely in your hot tub – you have to be considerate of your fellow tubbers and think about how they'd feel if they knew what you were doing.
