I didn't discover masturbation until after puberty. Fortunately, puberty came early, when I was 11 years old. For a few months, I had erections but didn't know why. My stiff penis itched and tingled, but I didn't know what to do about it. In the privacy of my bedroom I would admire it and bat it from side to side. Somehow, I knew that this was something normal and enjoyed it. My father had discussed sex with me in a conversation so abstract that I didn't really understand anything. His closest description of sex was that men "had contact" with women.

The first time that I recall masturbating was when I was about 4 years old. We were visiting with friends and I was sent upstairs to take a bath since it was nearly bedtime. I finished my bath and let the water run out. I noticed that I had an erection, which meant nothing to me at the time. But I put my hand on it and liked the sensation. I am uncircumcised, so I started examining my foreskin. I discovered it felt good when I pulled it back, so I started moving it back and forth. I guess I must have been so caught up in the moment and the pleasure that I kept on doing it for a long time.

I've long wanted to talk about masturbating. The problem is that in my society (South Africa), it's regarded as either childish or perverse (or both!). Only two people I know have admitted that they enjoy this activity, and even they tend to shrug it off as something to do between sexual encounters. Now, we know that masturbation is something quite different to sexual intercourse.

My first sexual experience was, believe it or not, in kindergarten during nap time. A little classmate by the name of Joey used to sleep next to me on a separate mat. Well, on this particular day I failed to fall into the usual slumber and opened my eyes to see Joey playing "innocently" with what I referred to at the time as his peepee. I raised my hand and told the teacher that Joey was not asleep. She told me I wasn't asleep, either, and sent both of us to the time-out closet. Needless to say, Joey and I got bored in the dark closet.

Masturbation has been a part of my life since I was pretty young. I haven't always referred to it as masturbating, but I've been doing it since I was in second grade. I remember my mother buying me a book on how babies were made when I was about 8. She bought it for me because I saw a naked girl on TV and was very curious and excited. It was the first time I remember becoming erect. I didn't realize sex, or my penis for that matter, had anything to do with this naked girl, but I guess my mother wanted to give me all the facts straight out.

I started masturbating when I was 14 years old. At first, I would lie down on my bed and stroke while thinking about the girl I had a crush on, and I would have an orgasm but wouldn't ejaculate. At that time, all of my friends had discussed masturbation with me, and they described it as being heavenly with a feeling of ecstasy. In biology class, I was learning about the reproductive system and about semen and sperm. I wished I could ejaculate some semen of my own.

I was very shy and backwards as a kid, and not at all wise about sexual matters. My parents didn't really talk about sex, and I was too embarrassed to ask. I picked up some things from talking to kids at school, but most of it was over my head and abstract. I had heard of "jacking off" and "masturbation," but I didn't even know they were the same thing, or what they really meant.

Well, as most people, I discovered masturbation when I was 10 or 11. However, I guess I discovered the actual process of masturbation in a slightly different fashion than those I've read about previously here.

When did I start masturbating? The first time I ever tried it was when I was 15. Several weeks before I had my first session, I was about to take a shower, when I found some magazines in with all the towels. I at first thought they were my mother's women's magazines; I had often seen her put them there. How wrong I was! I took one out and opened it. I was presented with one of the top-shelf magazines for sale here in the U.K. Naturally, I had a good look through and noticed my penis to be erect (which wasn't unusual, because I'd been having lots of "wet dreams" at that age).

I was about 12 years old when a school friend introduced me to masturbation. When I was at his house for a visit, he showed me his penis, and he had an erection. I had never seen an erect penis before, but suddenly also my penis became erect. I don't remember that I ever had an erection at all before then. He showed me what you can do with your penis, and he told me that when I stroke my penis a white liquid will come out, which would be that stuff children are made with, and it will feel great.
